    Overland Hound...Rainbow Bridge Memorial

My Bella, ACD/Labrador mix, crossed the Rainbow Bridge in August. It's almost no fun exploring without her and I can't bear to wipe the windows, as the nose markings remind me of her. I figured there should be a memorial thread to our overland furbabies that have crossed the bridge...

    Which model Land Rover

It is going to depend on what you want to do. The first gen RRS, L320, shares the same platform, though shorter wheelbase, with the D3/LR3, so modding and parts support shouldn't be that bad. Now, if you're talking about the new RRS, L494 v D3, that's a completely different story. The L494 is...

    Coffee Set Ups

I go back to the old camp percolator over the fire. This was how I was introduced to coffee & camping as a kid. Decades later, it’s still my preferred camp coffee method, though the beans have improved dramatically. I use a med ground Colombian, usually starsux. To me, it’s not camping, if there...

    Land Rover Registry

Paper filters are better for dirt, the foam allows better airflow, but also more dust. I always carry paper for the dust. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m usually there. The parking area by the bank is a good place to meetup, provided we get there early enough. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

There’s usually decent representation from the overland community, and as DRJ mentioned, Great Falls Park is nearby. Great hiking/biking trails indeed. Dog friendly as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does anyone go to Katie’s C&C in Great Falls? Downside is you have to show up early, even this time of year. They’ve been going year-round, weather permitting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    SVO ....Small Vehicle Overlanding

You ought to consider LiFePO4 instead of AGM, initial cost will be a little higher, but total cost of ownership will be lower, especially when you factor in usable cycles ~4x or more, depth of discharge, etc. I’d also add Anderson plugs, to make it easy to gang the boxes. Sent from my iPhone...

    Vehicle Tools (Merged thread)

Have you tried using the hub nut wrench on your rear hub? I have the same thing, which worked fine on the front hubs, but the wrench arm bent on the rear hub of my ‘95 RRC. Supposedly, a long 3/8” extension will work; I opted for the “meaty beast” 52mm hub nut socket instead...

Where can I get Land Rover Defender 90 spare parts from?

You can also try LRDirect.com, but you'll need to know the part #. Even with shipping, they've been cheaper and faster than our stateside sources. https://www.seriesdefender.com offers better than stock parts, but the product line is limited. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    The Economy of Rig-Building

LOL! As the owner of an old Range Rover Classic, which has huge sentimental value, I know what you mean. When I brought her back to life, my plan was to build her as a moderate overland rig, but as I've discovered the uniqueness of the 95 MY RRC, I've rethought that plan. I still drive it...

Any ideas on repurposing this for use in overland rig?

I used the batteries, which were still good, from a dead UPS to build a portable power pack with built in LED flood. I use this to power my work light on my roofrack. It's contained in a .50 cal ammo box that I've added SAE and USB ports. It's also set up for solar power. My plan is to build...

    Ground Tent/Awning Options

Zactly...great for base camp. I don't have any of the additional panels, but you can easily add more sheltered space, though not cheaply. Searching forums for lightly used Oz gear may be a less expensive way to buy, but may take more time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
