Thanks, @Roamin Rover - in absence of being able to find a 2004 in a scrap yard, every heard anything positive or negative about this front output assembly? http://store.toddcosuspensions.com/diiilodi.html
@Roamin Rover - I was just counseled by a mechanic that specializes in Land Rovers to replace the whole transfer case, but the price was egregious (~$1500 - granted I live in California). So, now I'm back to considering replacing just the front output housing myself and finding or making a...
Hey @Tinker , given you've basically rebuilt one from the ground up - have you found a dual battery tray off the shelf from anywhere or did you fabricate your own / have one fabricated? I've tried Aedofab and Sierra Expeditions, Lucky8, etc. and noone seems to make them anymore.
I moved from the stock 18s to the 16x8 terrafirma/all makes steel wheels from Atlantic British (believe they’re still on sale for a set of 5). Also got the black/grey steel wheel nuts (from lucky 8).
Ended up going with the warn vr12s on a holiday special.
Also got the roof rack and lights on. Ready to gtfo of dodge now.
Still in love with these tires.
I’ve got the 4.6. Unsure on the winch. Actually going tomorrow to check a few out. Looking at a smittybilt x20 and superwinch tomorrow. Any recommendations?
I’m a few weeks ahead of you on my build out but way behind you on my mechanic skills. Yours has great bones already - and a roof rack worth half as much as the car - ha! Throw a winch on that bad boy and go see what it can do!
Thank you - I’m gonna give the salvage yard a shot for the shifter and cable and front output housing and try to save that $500 toward my winch purchase. I almost reached the end of the internet, but found a good write up on how to swap the front output assembly rather than the whole case. I’ll...
Awesome advice - thank you, Tinker! I’ll get on the craigslist and see if I can’t find something around the area. Already see some in Sacramento if I can get up there once these fires calm down.
Thank you! It doesn’t have the CDL, unfortunately, as it’s that weird in between 2003 year that relied on traction control, as far as I can figure out. Was hoping to find some advice about that on here - you have experience retrofitting the cdl or adding a rear air locker by chance?
