Awesome job man! How did the new shackle bushings fit once the OEM ones came off? I may want to order the same ones if they went on without much fuss (like the OME ones). I hear really good things about the Discoverer. Let us know how she does at the Rendezvous!
Not yet. I may be heading out on 8/10. They have 6.5 miles of trails open to full sized vehicles so far. I'll let you know how it is if I get to make it out there.
By the way, if you want to go you will have to make reservations in advance. When I called yesterday, they still had 42 vacancies...
Many of us were wondering the same and had created a thread on this topic specifically. Check out

Welcome Mark!
Assateague island, as it gets closer to summer, will in general draw in a larger crowd. I think our experience in March will be very different due to the weather and time of year. I would say go early as there is a 146 rig limit on the beach, make sure to air down to reduce tire...
I'm gonna have to bail on this trip. Wife had to go out of town and my dog just came out of procedure. Gotta take care of the pup for a few weeks 'til he recovers. I'll remove my name from the RSVP.
Chincoteague and Assateague are separated via a fence. The logistics, pass, rules regarding pets, etc... are different. I think the best thing to do is contact their ranger station and ask.
You want to enter the island from the Maryland side. The VA side is Chincoteague and is limited in terms of driveable beach.
Look up Assateague Island National Seashore OSV and it will give you all of the details you need from a map, directions, and pricing.
I prefer the earlier group as I am not camping, I'd like to have more time ahead in the day to head home and clean up the truck! I'm also very much a morning person, so earlier the better.
Bryan,
If you are still shopping around for shops, give Perfection Automotive a buzz and see if they have experience with modding 4runners. I found this place from TacomaWorld because one of the guys that do a ton of Tacoma mods work there as a mechanic. I took my truck there to get it aligned...
This trip is blowing up! Looking forward to meeting everyone around the region! 2 groups sound like a fantastic idea. In terms of gear and comms, I have a modest set of mods to the truck along with recovery gear/equipment and running a hard mounted CB. See you guys then!
