    "What the FWOK? is that?"

This is why I called it a FWOK. I equate Farm WOK/ Cowboy WOK. Years ago I commissioned a Blacksmith friend of mine to build me a Fire Cook Set that could be configured either as a tripod or a spit-style set that straddles a fire pit. I like the versatility it gives me to use the same gear in...

The Best Explanation Of Overlanding I've Read

Well, I suppose I will give my .02. many years ago, I watched a Martial Arts demonstration. It piqued my interest. So much so that I went to a local dojo (gym where martial arts are practiced) and started training. There are ranks within that activity that are earned for accomplishing...

    DIY Cowboy WOK

What are you using to store it for transport? I built one myself, but have not transported it yet. I was thinking about a tire cover, but am still sorting it out.

Had a chance to play a little with the cowboy FWOK. Here is my Camp fire set in a couple configurations that work with the FWOK.

Any black powder shooters amongst us?

.50 cal Hawken rifle and pistol. Did some mountain man rendezvous for several years, a while back. A good friend of mine got me into it. He did blacksmithing and knife making as well. I've won a few hawk/knife/black powder shoots in my day. Aim small miss small... It's a thing!

    Started my Cowboy wok-griddle

I made it from a plow disc with horseshoes welded on as handles, and the center hole welded shut. It rests on a tire rim that can sit on a propane burner from my turkey fryer. It can also be placed over a fire pit over coals or charcoal.

    "What the FWOK? is that?"

Have not weighed it, but it's prolly close to 40lbs for just the griddle. So definitely not a back-packer model. I'm pretty sure the truck will haul it tho. I take the burner already, along with it's stock pot (turkey fryer), for large water heating (food, prep, cleaning, showers, etc). With...

    "What the FWOK? is that?"

It's a Farm WOK-griddle, at a wallet-screaming cost of @ $30. I had the burner from a turkey fryer, and the lid from my Weber grill. The plow disc and tire rim were purchased at a local recycling yard for @ $20 for both. The horseshoes we're $2 ea. A few minutes of grinding the surface rust...

    Started my Cowboy wok-griddle

I think I will call it the "FWOK". That sounds catchy. Better than a Farm-WOK. People will ask "What the FWOK is that?". I will say "exactly"! Ha ha!

    Started my Cowboy wok-griddle

Coming together nicely. Started seasoning it today. Still gotta weld on the horseshoe handles. My large Weber grill top fits on it nicely. My Camp Chef Explorer with 30K BTU burners seem to do Ok as well. My laser thermometer says the center of the disc got up to 475 F, and the sides got up...

    Started my Cowboy wok-griddle

I must say I was inspired by the thread on the Scottle. Lots of input, pro and con on the merits. I very much liked all the discussion on the DIY approach, a perspective near and dear to my heart. One of the things I have been watching is what folks are heating them with. There seems to be a...

    Spare tire solutions, alternatives?

I don't have a pic handy, but can add one tomorrow, but I modified a hitch mounted bike rack I had to carry a full size spare. I also used a dual hitch mount so I can still pull my trailer. If I am not pulling the trailer, the bike mount lays down and I can still haul two bikes with the spare...
