    BATWING Awning Version 1

Props! I started mine last fall. Still have not finished it. Got the frame built but have not sorted out the awning material. Will probably mock up a heavy tarp. Got discouraged when I spoke to a couple local awning makers and they both quoted me about twice what I could pay for a complete...

Small Propane Tank Selection and Storage Dilemma

I second the refilling of the 1 lb tanks. Get an air fitting screw driver tool then you can top them off. Freezing them first does help to get more propane into them. Then when they warm up, they have more pressure to push the gas out.

    Powering Electric Cooler- Questions

Someone needs to invent a winch adapter and harness that will allow us to winch our rigs 12ft off the ground, like we were taught in the Scouts, to do with our food .. Although that might not be high enough to keep the Squatch out...

Under the Hood Generator 18,000 watts of power

That is quite a bit of power and you seem to need to keep your engine running. While I can totally see the military applications, I'm not sure, for myself, it would be practical. I have a couple SoGens now, one commercial (EB70) and one home built with a 200ah LiFePO4 batt bank,. I can charge...

    RTT mattress

For my .02, I have an Overlander XL. It came with a cheap vynil covered mattress that compressed and was hard for me as a side sleeper. After I bought a condensation Matt for under it and a 3inch egg crate foam (Walmart) for on top of it, it was as comfortable or possibly more than my bed at...

    Replacing portable compressor

I had an 86 bronco a few years back that I had an air tank mounted under the chassis, next to the gas tank. The compressor was under the hood with lines going to the tank and a gauge/switch under the dash in the cab. I had air chucks mounted just inside the driver and passenger doors. It...

    Running power trailer.

I like a couple ideas presented and were I in your shoes would consider combining a few ideas. For example, installing a 7-pin adapter. Your trailer only requires three wires and a ground, so extra pin-outs can be used for 12v power on the trailer side. What connectors you use are up to you...

Power Option For Fridge In Part Time Rig

I didn’t read all the replies (I apologize) but before all the SoGens and Solar Panels became a “thing”, we would run a second battery with an isolator from the engine compartment to where ever you wanted it. If you want fancy-pick up a battery box already wired for a 12v plug and maybe a...

    CPAP power

Almost any of the solar generators commercially available will do the job. I run my CPAP on a Bluetti EB70. Like others it can multi task and run my 12v cooler and charge my phone all while simultaneously charging from the alternator while driving or solar panels while boondocking. you will...

    Coleman stove issue----fixed!

Funny, I picked up an old 2-burner Coleman years ago at a yard sale. I bought it because it had a cast iron burner vs the tube steel, so it was an older model. Anywho- someone had taken bailing wire and wrapped it between the grate rods as well. I figured it was for the same reason-

    23Zero tent ladder replacement

I did the same to my Overlander XL. I re-used the brackets from my slide ladder. Then had to re-drill holes in the tent frame because spacing between the ladder ends was not the same. Turned out great! I ended up with a longer ladder- 12ft. I did this for a couple reasons. First- with my...

How I power a electric blanket all night while overlanding

My wife really HATES being cold. We joke about her lizard gene. We have had a 12v blanket in our kit for years. Usually had to use a deep cycle boat battery and charge it with the alternator and an isolator, back before it was cool. I only got her to try out the new roof tent this past fall...

Cannibalize jump pack for power station.

I like your idea. I have had a few of those jump packs over the years that seem to work right up to the point you NEED them. I have since built my own SoGen, based off a set of LiFePO4 cells that should outlast me. Pulling components out of dead jump packs seems like a great way to source...

    Awning mount extension options.

I'm betting some unistrut would work. There are numerous connectors, brackets, strut sizes and configurations that could easily integrate with your rack and tent/awning hardware to do what you want. Why re-invent the wheel, when you can improvise, adapt and overcome? Just thinking out loud...
