I was pretty committed to PMF but then saw my buddy's and his filon. It looks really clean. I'm also going to be putting vinyl decals on the side and wondered if PMF would take them. I justified it by thinking my time to skin it would be worth something.
Haven't touched it for 2 weeks now. The...
Ah. It's probably the cheapest grade to be found. Not sure the local home center has different grades though... It is utility grade, not sanded or anything. I think I've decided to foam insulate and panelize the inside. I've already received the filon to put on the outside.
I haven’t even started researching those yet. Still trying to get over the decision fatigue between this trailer and the tow vehicle… I’d take recommendations!
I ran across a YT video where they were using Gaia and ended up on private land. The landowner encouraged use of OnX because it makes it clear if it's private or not and Gaia does not. Is that true?
Not much mention of the old-school portable toilets...? The integrated units with chemically treated water reservoir and black water tank. Pump some blue water into the bowl, do your bidness, and "flush" it down. Not fun to empty into the toilet after you get home but otherwise works ok. The...
After life got in the way of finishing my last teardrop and the wind forcefully opening the back hatch further than it should, we're starting over. Would probably be close to done if I wasn't also building the tow rig.
It was:
(Sold the fenders to a friend who's building a similar teardrop.)...
Very nice!
Gonna have to get me some of those zip tie tabs. I'm building one too and want to route wires outside of the frame this time. Ran them inside the frame last time but I want this one completely water sealed.
To @William_18185d's point on spare tires... why the heck do so many small campers not have their own spare tire?! My new camper build will be able to share a spare with the towing truck, but I'll still have one for both. At least put a freakin' donut on it!
I'm in the trailer camp, not purchased but home built. From watching videos and my own camping experience, I believe we will be doing less "overlanding" and more "short trip to the next campsite and hanging out." So in a 3 night, 4 day trip, we'll have only 2 sites. Having a camper will allow us...
Making some headway on the camper. Got all the wall and roof panels, the front bulkhead, and some joint bracing cut and roughed in. Next steps are:
Need to drop the axles/raise the frame 3". I watched a Lifestyle Overland video that made me want to get my entire frame higher, to be more in...
The tires were catching on the front of the fender. The only other rub spot so far will need a small body mount chop. Might even get away without welding on any kind of gusset. It's already an open-ended mount. I think I'm making a decent argument that if you're ok with the high clearance cut...
FCFS in Wyoming. The crummy thing is that a lot of people will park their campers in one place for the season, "claiming" that spot when they shouldn't. They need to move every 2 weeks but as far as I can tell, it's not enforced. I lost use to an awesome site to that bullshit. Tried to go back a...
Put in an Ironman lift this evening. Just over 4 hours, with a little help from the wife to align the UCA bolts. (Perfect opportunity to exercise those innuendoes...) Doing it all in one evening wore me out!
I removed the front sway bar and didn't put it back in. Might see if I can get my hands...
