New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

Lower heat and time to heat up is a key point for using cast iron. I think sometimes folks have problems cooking in cast as they think it needs to be screaming hot. Gross generalization I know but MiamiC70 matches my experience.

    Advice on Kitchen set up

We have a Wrangler Unlimited as well as a full size PU so we move things back and forth depending on the trip, thus no built ins. For us we use a chuck box (old Dosko) for most of the cooking stuff which works very well but in the JKU does take up some space. We have also used a 42L Alu-box to...

A very tasty, old school camping recipe.

I am amazed at the creativity and set ups the we see here, on IG etc for camp kitchen and camp cooking. There are some truly great chefs doing amazing cooking at the campsite and I am in awe sometimes at their skill. I tend to cook some pretty creative and interesting dishes at home but when I...

    Overland Vs Off-Road

That is very true, hence the overlap!

    Overland Vs Off-Road

Although there is no doubt overlap between the two and various degrees to fit everyone's own definition I do think there are some serious differences. When I rode my Harley Low Rider up the Haul Road to the Arctic Circle with the bare camping necessities strapped on back I call that overlanding...

Post a Picture That Defines Overlanding For You

I love the photos of the rigs and the wild places and those are so much of the overland experience. Finding an epic dispersed campground is such a great feeling and the tranquility cannot be beat. For me though that is the definition of camping, not really overlanding (yes I know that the...

    Off gird battery question

Not sure the circumstances but if it is all about the pressure cooker and she is not wanting to start it and run off to do other things perhaps a stove and the GSI pressure cooker would work for her and ditch the electrics-I think there are a few folks here that use and recommend the GSI cooker.

    Cook Stove

I expect from your question that this is a cooker to throw into a truck. You don't specify much (i.e. what you are cooking, does weight matter, fuel type you prefer, use with pots or no?) but there are definitely some good stove threads here to check out. Since the skottle is both a stove and a...

The Straight Grain Supply Axe Bag from OB Store

Hello all-for Christmas I received the Straight Grain Supply Axe and Utility Bag from the Overland Bound Store. Overall I think it appears to be a great bag for the intended purpose with a nice weight of waxed canvass and nice stitching (from what I know). As I mention in the video the only item...

The Last US Bag Company - Stove Case (LUSB243)

Looks like a nice bag-I gotta measure my Coleman Powerhouse stove to see if it would fit-sadly no Cook Partner in my kit at this point.

    Solo Campfire

I picked up the Campfire a few years ago on their Kickstarter campaign-cripes now I own 5 sizes of the dang things! They are great stoves and Camera Lady and I use the Titan most often for camping as the size works very well for two persons.

Share how it all started - Homage to the beginnings - Your story is welcome here!

The love of the outdoors started with the Boy Scouts and the amazing camping trips that we did in the late 60s and 70s. Never was big on the Eagle Scout thing but never missed a campout. From there it was dirt bikes and camping every chance I could get-often as a platform for drinking and...

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

I have also been lucky to find some of the older Griswold, Wagner, Wapak, etc at the antique stores and, with a little or a lot of work, have restored them to daily use. The problem I am finding now is that the prices they are asking make them pretty much a deal breaker for me. For a few buck...

New Cast Iron Care And Maintenance

I am not sure what might be the issue, I have never used, or seen, the Coleman cast iron. Perhaps there is something in the metallurgy that is hindering the seasoning-I know from taking to some folks that enamel coating has issues sometimes depending on surface carbon (?) so maybe there is...
