    Cancelled New Mexico BDR Trip!

I'm definitely interested in doing the NM BDR but leading a Big Bend trip the same month and not sure I can get away with both. I may have to wait until the fall.

Hey @Rav4_Overland that was actually the 3rd, this past weekend. I didn't realize you were interested in joining, apologies. TBH, it was like camping in a parking lot but the company was good. I'm going camping with the fam in Bastrop this weekend but down to go any weekend you want.

US Southwest Big Bend - Spring 2023

This will be our 3rd Annual Big Bend trip. I have 40 acres on the Terlingua Ranch that serves as a great base camp for the Big Bend area. We're 30 miles from the National Park( 39 to Panther Junction) . 40 Miles to Study Butte-Terlingua, 100 Miles to BBRSP. There are no facilities so you need...

That's wild. I can't imagine an RV park without 220V. I thought most RVs and travel trailers needed 30 or 50A connections.

That sucks. Having crossed West TX and New Mexico on my way to Colorado, I know the anxiety of not having access to 220. On my route I planned a backup charger for every stop and then had a backup to my backup just in case. I actually had to use this in Lubbock because the one fast charger they...

You're thinking of the Bollinger B1&2. They had the tunnel that went from bumper to bumper. Pretty cool idea in my opinion but unfortunately they suspended production to focus on delivery trucks due to the lack of interest from the consumer market. The Rivian is more suited for RTT and they...

So far it's been pretty awesome. I took it to Colorado and did the Alpine Loop and a few other trails and it handled everything like a champ. There's no getting around the long charging time on 110v. It's a big battery and really needs a 220v to charge in a reasonable amount of time. If there's...

Just a quick note, I got a notification last night Imogene Pass from Telluride to Ouray will be closed for the next 4weeks due to construction.

We'll be coming the opposite direction but what you say makes sense and good to know. We always give right of way to uphill traffic. Hope y'all have a safe trip. Sounds like a good time.

Apologies if I touched a nerve. I never travel unprepared or put myself in a situation where I would need to lean on the preparedness of others intentionally. It was meant to be more of a fun comment. Electric vehicles (and charging stations for that matter) will become more prevalent in the...

Yeah, looked at doing this also. What I came to was hybrid vehicles add a ton of additional failure points. The ICE trucks have more than 10,000 components whereas EV is around 400. That reduces failure points. In hybrid architecture, you combine the two and increase complexity. Also, electric...
