So, the "final" product.....mostly looks like this in the Jeep. If you look closely here, you can see that I mounted the drawer slides in the upper channel of the 2" bottom rails and everything clears when extended and closed. I thought that the double stacked extrusion would offer more rigidity...
I remove mine from the rig and keep it in the garage when not "traveling" or when I don't have a mobile need. I keep it plugged in and running in the garage as my beer fridge.
Next was to build the second story of the system if you will; the upright supports and what will be the "shelf" over the top of all this. It mimics the size of the bottom width wise, and is shallower in depth to account for the rake of the rear seat back.
So, I laid out pieces and started by building the base. This is the finished layout of the base, with the fridge spot on the left and the storage area on the right.
These next two show how I elected to build the corners, with a flat plate on the bottom and corner gussets in the upper slot of...
Ok, sorry for the delay....Holidays and all that. Post #1 of several.
So, the stuff came quickly, was packaged really well and fun to build and play with. I had watched several YouTube videos prior, and one in particular was full of good tips on working with 80/20 or aluminum extrusion stuff...

Wow, you have done/thought of everything that I was going to suggest........I'll follow this to see what you learn!

I do not with that specific brand, but used one similar with my big adventure motorcycle some......I had no issues, and they were easy to work with. The storage of them after emptying them out is nice.
It's a general behavior, not an overland specific behavior, right? It's everywhere.
And I agree with @MOAK that we all do have some level of responsibility to "lead by example" in our rigs......which oddly enough, I try to make general practice in my life.....if you see some one broken down on...
Happy Day one and all! I got a Zoleo Sat Comm that I'd been wanting, excited to fire it up.
Also spent the day yesterday building a rear storage "box" from 80/20 yesterday...going to try it out in the Jeep shortly....:grinning:
I think it's just that different folks come with vastly different expectations. My experience is that the folks that are very new to off roading just need a little guidance and patience and in general the 4x4 crowd is much more self sufficient than the adventure motorcycle crowd (oddly enough)...
