I would debate the many misconceptions in your statement, I’ll focus on one. Controlling our lives. I only know that since my birth, the government has had less and less to do with my personal life and my freedoms. If anything my rights & freedoms have been expanded. However, very recently...
Interesting, as these new regs & laws are coming from one of the most staunchly conservative states in the country which is the direct opposite of the lefties. It is simply a very conservative response to a problem that is out of control. A leftie doesn’t want any government intervention at...
Interesting; I too consider it a matter of enforcing laws, rules & courtesies. Going to bed with one political party, or one politician? Once they lose an election, then all agreements are off the table. That's why, in my humble opinion, it is necessary to hedge your bets and play both sides...
Hmmm, Terlingua has em, about the only place for hundreds of miles outside the park. No permits needed for a drive, just park entrance fee, as I recall. Permits are needed for primitive camping. It's always a good thing to stop in and make friends with the rangers. They will have the best up...
Ya, if anything you are over prepared, other than extra gasoline. We’ve been twice and 3 days isn’t even enough for BB, more like 7-8 days. Are you backcountry camping? You mentioned a small group. I know the rangers do not like seeing more than 3 vehicles in a group. If you’re not...
Imagine that! You outgrew that yeti unit rather quickly. Mount a 100 or 150 watt panel on your roof rack and rearrange where you store stuff. Get a generic panel, yup, sometimes less than a dollar a watt. Here’s how I did it.
Not on purpose, but we have awakened to a light powdering. We do prefer chilly weather and are quite comfortable with temps down in the middle teens. But Snow camping? Too much like work
Fair enough, the dude said I stopped reading at “ I was doing 75” then went on to berate the op. I called him out- he’s no expert at traffic flow, patterns, nor safety. My record and work history? I never talked about it until I retired. Now? Once in a while I mention, if for no other...

Read exactly what my responses were to the gentleman that was attacking the original poster- and you’ll find that we agree. When being tailgated, one continues without changing a thing until a safe transition can be made into another lane. That would be after passing, which should be...
so- according to your logic, if I am traveling 10-15-20 mph over the posted speed limit in the left lane, progressively passing slower traffic in the right lane, and you come roaring up behind me, and tail gate me with relentless abandon, I should slow down abruptly so I can dive into the...
I thought they only lived out in Athol. But you are correct- metro Boston is a big gridlock with tons of Massholes LOL btw- I hated going anywhere on the 1-95 corridor- including Boston.

This is definitely a step in the right direction in roping in the abuse that these types of vehicles render on the trails. The new law does not affect us as overlanders as long as we are using registered street legal vehicles...
We are planning to leave out July 1st. Go to Glacier NP, make a right hand turn and head north, till we can’t go any further north, then head back down, make a right turn and head on over to Alaska. Detailed planning? Nope, not doin it, can’t make me. Fuel budget? Who knows? Time? 7-8...
Wow, 6 hour drive. I wish.. Because ours is a dedicated vehicle all the stuff stays bolted or fastened on, except 3 boxes and the propane bottle. I have to take that stuff off to get in & out of the 7’ barn door. A home project will be to make the barn doors 8’ so I don’t have to bolt...
Thank you Shaun, as I get older I find it to be a lot easier to be whom I was meant to be. I can be quite inquisitive sometimes, always trying to figure out how things work, especially minds, and I’m sometimes mistook as being a troll. Sarcastic? Absolutely , but never troll like! Ha!
The OP wasn’t clear, however, if I’m in the left l lane, no matter the speed, if I am progressively passing, I’m staying there, until I have passed however many vehicles I am progressively passing. That is the law in like 32 states.
One more very short story on this subject. We live about 5 miles from a major 4 lane highway. It is a network of two lane country roads to get home. I'm in our unit, trailer in tow, doing the speed limit or 5 mph over depending on the twisty winding roads. Some guys in a car come up fast...
