@OTH Overland i do a few events a year usually where I camp in one spot for 3 or 4 days ( all times of the year) and one that I volunteer for that's a week of guided offroad trail runs. That 1 event has me changing something in my camp year all the time because it's exhausting lol. Any extra...
I used to do more winter camping with some friends of mine. we used to challenge each other to see who could ride out the weekend with the least amount of "comfort". we would sleep in holes in the snow or a tarp over a branch.
now that I am getting older I am looking for more comfort and maybe...
Pretty sure it's just whatever someone had in their head at the time. I have 2 rigs... one for off road/off grid and another for more road mannered trips with the family. Neither of them have a name or brand. Both are capable in their own way. Don't get hung up on what to call things.
How does the jackery hold up to cold weather? I was looking over their website and saw the operating temp ratings and thought it didn't look like it would be a good fit for winter power.
I tried to use plastic bags but people either didn't look for the bag inside or I didn't get on in it in time. here is an old pic of my jeep from almost 10 years ago of the poor Jeep loadedup to capacity for a trip north for a few weeks lol.
I used to buy a new Trasharoo every year because they were on a rig that saw all weather all the time. they would be wet all winter and freeze, along with constant UV deterioration. By spring or mid summer they would just be falling apart. Our local FWD organization sold them and any profit went...
So I am thinking that I mat try to use the torsion axles that I have sitting around... at least for now. I am not sure how they will hold up and my straight axle I have is currently under a trailer I use to move my TJs hardtop around in the summer. This will save me some hassle ( short term at...
If I could start over I would probably buy a JK or JL Rubicon. 33s or 35s and factory lockers would likely get me anywhere I regularly go. I would still put front and rear bumpers on it, winch up front, tire carrier in the rear.... and I'd have to make sure there's enough room in the back for 2...
Just my 2 cents... and I don't live near a any of the trails you are talking about....but are they loop trails or cover a lot of distance? maybe load a trailer and set up base camp before you hit the trail. I know some of them are long trails but the harder ones typically aren't ( correct me if...
lol ya I used to pic up parts on my way to work all the time when I lived in Keswick and commuted to Toronto. either for myself, others at work, or for JJ's lol. the guys would just let me know they had an order lol.
Between TMR and Trailhead Customs those guys have made just about everything...
It's hard to get Barnes parts around here. There a a few "local" fabricators around that form builder parts. Most of the brackets and tabs on my Jeep are TMR or a local guy.
I used to work for a 4x4 shop for almost 10 years lol. De idea to have a family and move north and now there isn't one closer than about 3 hour drive away. And none of them give stuff away, everything has a price lol.
I work in a steel shop now so making up a new control arm would almost as easy...
I am trying to keep the budget low. basically my trailer design I sketched up is under 1000lb dry weight, and I don't carry a whole lot. I am thinking that I will likely run a 2000LB suspension and axle for now. If that works, it will stay. I have a pile of part laying around, including 3500lb...
What exactly was the break and what was the fix? I have a Ling list of random trail fixes under my belt a d love hearing others. Even if it's just zip ties lol. An independent suspension would be harder to patch together...

What definition on the forum clearly states no?
The forum is designed to be inclusive to all by leaving definitions loose and painting a broad pictire. Its up to everyone else to come up with their own opinions.
Suchbis life. Nobody will agree on everything.
No rules broken. Most of my trips are solo. Self recovery is something everyone should know how to to, as well as what the limit of their vehicle is. I've been Wheeling and exploring the woods for a long time and finding ways to get unstuck is half the fun! Lol. It comes in handy even when not...
