Unfortunately that's the way it goes these days. My father in law owns a body shop and they don't even go look. they just take his quote and send someone to haul the scrap off to auction for parts.
It's definitely crossed my mind, but the wife doesn't really enjoy off roading and the kids are still young. I dont have the budget to start over again and would likely have to sell both my jeeps to do it. and still not have enough to make up the difference to complete the build lol.
First things first. This is not my rig, nor did I have any part in the recovery. I was following the posts and thought it was an interesting read, also if anyone who reads this is planning on running the Swisha Loop... this section of trail is currently impassable ( there is a noted bypass but...
agreed that bugs are to be expected in the outdoors, and socks stink like hell lol. but your odds of a bear encounter for any reason are much higher than 1 in 2 million. I usually see at least a few bear a year without trying, and see a few campsites torn apart, vehicles damaged.... it just...
Hey! welcome. check out the trailer section on the forum. there are tones of people building campers or just trailers in general ( or modifying existing trailers but the ideas are there) I have no ideas for building campers... I have plans in the future but for now my focus has been on...
I love my LJ! The TJ/LJ platform has got to be one of my favorites but I am biased because I have owned a few ( also a few YJs and a lot of other models lol). I am in the opposite boat however. I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old and I can never take the LJ because I don't have the back seat...
Slow progress on the trailer. Work has had me extremely busy and I havnt had the energy after getting home and getting the kids to bed to do any work on my own stuff. My wife too the kids over to her parents place this morning to give the kids baths ( it has been dry here and our well is...
Not a whole lot of progress on the trailer lately. Been busy with the family and the wife's honey do list. Also did a little bit of work on the TJ so I could drive it again. Made up some gussets to keep the control arm tabs straight. Got 1 burned but still not happy with how my welder is...
I still don't understand the downfall of transamericain wholesale. I worked with the for nearly 10 years, then people started getting fired and koving on and brands started disolving .... a lot of the people I dealt with in the industry are now " pursuing other ventures".... unfortunately that...
To sound like a broken record.... go with the slip yoke eliminator and driveshaft. Basically all of the reasons above ... I can't really add anymore to them lol
Havnt had much time to work on ghetto trailer. Got sick last weekend and spent most of the week trying to recover. I did make up some gussets to got with the extra bracing I havnt made yet.
I'll be heading north and driving around with the family this weekend to fisit other family that we havnt...
When in a campground I usually toss it about 10-15 feet out into the woods around camp ( most of the time bears aren't an issue in the campgrounds we visit so you may get a racoon at night but that's about it).
When off grid I am usually near water so I either do the dishes in the water a bit...
Lol same story with the ones here in Canada. And if it's not the mosquitos it's the black flies... or worse deer flies or horse flies... Savage little bastards
Overland NTH has a few events every year ( one in June, one in September, and one in February) around central Ontario. There are also a few clubs that may have things happening throughout the summer (Bancroft overland club, BK Overland, among others)
The OF4WD web site has an events calendar...
I did know that changing the angle of the shocks changes the dampening. I am gunna run these and see how they do. I would have preferred a shorter shock but couldn't seem to track any down.
1. I will be using poly bushings on the arms. I ordered them through TMR Customs as I have used a bunch of their builder parts in my LJ.
2. I am drilling through the center of the spring perches and running a bolt through for bar style retainers top and bottom. The frame side of the spring...
