This little bugger has come in handy both while camping and for doing less-fun yard work. Quick and slick!
I also carry an axe AND a hatchet. Carry EVERYTHING I say!
They all have their uses. If you have to drive stake, get a stake hammer too! :tonguewink:
Dan.
@Corrie and @Michael something to think about!
How to turn videos into a book! If only there were some software to do that!
I think what @Sheepdog831 wants to hear is the back story, what drove you to do this massive thing?, what was your inspiration?
It's one we've heard bits and pieces of...
Welcome to OB! Japan is a great country, so much culture and so much to see.
I have spent many stints there, one or two weeks at a time, I came to have an appreciation of the place and the people, but you're right, their version of overlanding is very different than ours, I'm not even sure...
There's a few areas up near Idyllwild, but I don't have personal experience, it's on my list to check them out some day.
If you go and are successful, post up and let us know!
Dan.
I would add to this list the Black Series HQ12, HQ15, HQ17, HQ19... those are the ones I'm lusting after right now but it changes the tow vehicle that I would need.
Black Series has a location now apparently in the LA area, I need to go out and drool in person.
It would mean moving up to a V8...
If you had a link to that Vlog, it may be more useful. I don't know how to find random Vlogs!
Thanks for posting this, I looked, albeit half-heartedly, for a trailer that is off-road capable AND had a bathroom.
I was unwilling to make the compromises that most with a bathroom came with.
I...
Is this 4WD? What is the powertrain?
I don't know much about these but it's going to be interesting to watch this develop into an overland capable vehicle.
Dan.
I'll keep an eye on this and maybe there's a chance to connect and do some camping in our Southwest!
This kind of planning is great fun, sounds like you're enjoying this part of it. Have fun. One day I'll be able to do 3 weeks at a crack.
Dan.
Wow, that is a crazy-busy agenda. Grand Canyon, especially south rim is a long way around, then over to So. Cal... seems like a lot of driving.
Lots of mentions above about what to see rather than drive so much, but that's just my 2 cents there. And if I were to pick, the North Rim is more...
Looks like a decent ride, I always like the looks of that gen Trooper but don't know much about them.
It looks better with a little air under it for sure, needs bigger tires now! the mods never stop once you get started.
Looks like it's been flat-towed? Are these OK to flat tow? Probably...
Alabama Hills near Lone Pine is a good place to start, seems to be very popular and lots to see around that area.
Almost can't go wrong, even on a semi-crowded weekend.
Good choice of equipment, and WOW! that would blow my budget for a good long time, but you're off to a good start.
Would love to run into you at OEX to see your progress, I'll shoot you an email.
I should be pretty visible over there, I make a point of walking around and especially chatting up...
Hi Del, welcome to the forum! It's good to have you hear, I hope you, combined with the collective resources Overland Bound can muster can continue to make a big impact in responsible land use.
I think this forum is a good place to inform all the members here when there is an opportunity to...
I'm going to be in the Northern Utah area, specifically SLC or Ogden area next week and have a night free on 4/23 or 4/25 and want to see if there's anything already planned, or could be planned for either of those two days?
Nights work best, but I'm on Vacay and could be during the day as...
Welcome and I hope that 'Cruiser comes through and is everything you want. I love mine, I've owned a few and I wouldn't have any other vehicle for this kind of hobby and lifestyle.
There are some shops I've heard of down there, the one I can think of may or may not be in business still, SDTrux...
haha, no #_fake action here, no blockage!
Now I see that you've updated Post #1 in that PM section. I'm a little slow but I get it now!
To confirm, unfortunately I will miss Day 1 with you guys due to a family commitment I couldn't get out of!
I will pick you up near the Dewey Bridge. If...
The main reason I like mine back there, not only to load up a bike rack or hitch basket for extra crap, but there's a good recovery point to slide in one of these:
There are other recovery points back there, but I like options and a pull from the center is often the simplest, safest and...
