Chalk test is the only real way to get your correct numbers , the same size tire between manufacturers will actually be different sizes so they will all require diffent pressures to run true.
For example on my xterra on 35s I had to run 26psi to get them to run properly.
Productive evening after work 2” body lift (easiest one I’ve ever done ) and an add a leaf for the rear . Suspension was a bit squaty with even a couple hundred lbs hope the add a leaf will combat that . Have a couple little things to do later , make some 1” spacers for the engine and trans to...
I love snow camping less people , no bugs , silence that only a hood layer of snow brings and on clear days the views are amazing. a good below zero sleeping bag and I wear light layers to bed and stay comfy and warm . On the other hand I hardly camp in the summer for the opposite reasons ...
I guess I should find it a little ironic all I’m doing right now is putting parts on my truck and not getting out lol maybe this weekend the stars will align
I was more saying as someone who has been “ overlanding” sense I started driving but has been on this site sense 2017 I have seen a steady decline in people actually getting out and more and more it being about the build . Nothing that is anything wrong with that Its was just an observation I’ve...
no I’m lazy typically when I get on here I just look at new posts . Just seems like over the years of being on here there’s more and more posts about gear and vehicle builds than there is about getting out . Just seems to be as overlanding becomes more popular it becomes more about the vehicle...
When it comes to doing modifications to the suspension 2” is about the max you want to do with the stock arms . Due to their very short design when you lift it you will quickly get into a choppy ride and limited travel with weird driving characteristics. Your better bet is highline fender ...
I guess I need to make my question this way , over the last couple years have you noticed overlanding has become more about the gear and the build than it has being about getting out in whatever you have . You see more and more build posts on vehicles that maybe get out once a year . I know it’s...
Just because someone has lights and bumpers and a 4Runner does not make it a overlander , just like most jeeps are just accessories magnets that will never go off the pavement not every built rig actually goes off-road .
Really like the way this guy constructed his . Mine would be a more traditional slide in camper but I like his budget approach. all I really need is a dry spot to sleep in , no kitchen or cabinets or any of that bs
I am really tempted to make my own pop up camper for it . The only one I’ve found that really suits my needs has a 9 month waiting list . I don’t want another project but I also don’t want to spend 12k on something to have to wait almost a year for it . With my track record I won’t even have the...
ya unfortunately the plywood had been sitting in our warehouse for at least 10 years so it has let’s say a certain odor of old musty building and needs to go asap
Make the simplest platform I could . I’m using a futon mattress (air mattress always seem to suck ) so I made the platform fold in two spots so I can roll the mattress up with sleeping bag on it and still be able to put stuff on top of the mattress and as a bonus it will sit angled when folded...
Scored and picked up a fiberglass canopy for 200$ . About 60$ worth of plexiglass and a couple hours work it has 2 new windows . Next will be insulating it a bit , making a simple sleeping platform and trying out this little canopy tent thing . Snow camping here I come
Of course, on the other hand, if I do a full tightn swap and do knuckles and everything I can switch to a 6X 5.5 bolt pattern which will make wheels a lot easier to pick out.
Thankfully all my front end parts were done 12k ago . I do like the Nissan platform for the fact you can mix and match parts due to it being the same frame
