I started rock crawling in 2008 and I experienced my first overlanding style trip in 2011. Even though I still do some rock crawling, most of my time off road is now devoted to overland style travel albeit most trips are 3-4 day trips in the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas. I own Natural State Overland and we conduct an event called Rendezvous in the Ozarks.
