Hi, I have been building 4x4’s since the early 80’s.
I raced a modified CJ7 in the Off-road Sportsman Challenge in the early 90’s.
I have always had a 4x4 somewhere around the house even if I had to work on it just to go play.
Back in the day we came up with all sorts of mods for camping, recovery and just gadgets.
( using the trans cooler in the radiator to heat water for a shower, bicycle hand brake on the stick shifter as a hand throttle, mercury power trim and tilt switch on the steering wheel to run the winch)
We also played around with suspension setups before the popular 4 links were mass produced, to include a quarter elliptical for the rear.
So getting older now and like the better ride with the independent front.
Current project for overland is a 09 Hummer H3 Adventure.
I look forward to meeting as many members as I can.
