US Southeast Southeast Overland & Off-Road Expo

I’ll be there Saturday. Might camp overnight but waiting on a few family items to clear up. I went last year and it was neat, this year looks to be a much bigger event and should be fun.

    Portable fire pits

I picked up a UCO flatpack (based on this thread!) and love it. Super simple and packable, very happy. I used it as a grill and fire pit both on my last trip.

    Trans America Trail-Pacific

I’ve never spent a minute on the TAT so don’t rely on me but… I looked into that a while ago and there’s a well documented trip a few fellas did in land rovers so many if not all is doable. I looked into the eastern side but I’m sure some others have touched parts of it out west. On a recent...

Hot wet tropical week camping at Ft Clinch Fl tent worked great!

One of the best spots in the sunshine state. We usually bolt on a day of beach driving at Amelia or peters point as well and enjoy that area when it’s not so hot! Looks like a good trip, congrats!

    Eastern Tennessee camping?

I know you said North/East but... I just passed through Tennessee and spend two days in the Cherokee national forest around Tellico Plains. Although I didn't care for that city, the drive northeast towards Knoxville took me through some really pretty country that bordered the Cherokee National...

4200 mile trek from Florida to northern Michigan and back...

Left on Friday 6/25 and returned on 7/14. I passed through Georgia 6/25 & 6/26. The tunnel was in Slade, Kentucky and is called the Nada Tunnel. Lots of traffic there but it was neat. There is a less traveled route that goes over the top (Tunnel Ridge rd.) and that was much more scenic. That...

4200 mile trek from Florida to northern Michigan and back...

Had fun, learned a lot, and I already started planning the next trip. Back Story – We had a wedding to attend in Cleveland, OH and wanted to see family in Northern Michigan while we were up north. We planned to fly and rent a car but it was unusually expensive and I really wanted to take my dog...

What sparked my interest in overlanding

When i was younger I had a truck and enjoyed camping and backpacking all over. Life happened and I found less time for adventure and was lucky to get 1 trip a year to do a hike or hunt but always thought "wouldn't it be great if..." When my oldest son finished elementary school I thought it...

    Maiden Overlanding Voyage

Congrats on your first epic journey. I spent some time in the San Juan mountains (looks like you'll be there June 7th) two years ago and that made me come home and sell my car and buy a 4x4. Spend some time researching "the Alpine Loop". it's a great way to get around the Ouray/Silverton /Lake...

Member Introductions *NEW MEMBERS INTRODUCE YOURSELF*

Thanks! The sections of the traverse we did were great. It’s well documented so no too many surprises. We did a few sections around Helen and liked it a lot. Most of our time was around blue ridge and west through the cohutta wilderness which was a neat experience. Vast section of wilderness...

I’m planning to spend a night or two on Citico Creek in June, glad to hear it was worth the trip.
