    Peter's Point Beach - Florida - 2 & 3 December 2017 - 12/02/2017

I wish I could make it, doing some off-road training in North Carolina that day. It’s a great beach! Enjoy!

    GPS/Tablet

I went with Ram universal floor mount. It's expensive and may be overkill. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    External (Handheld) GPS Options?

The best offline map is 'Off-Road Trail Guide' it's similar to Gaia with better features. Beta testing now. For those using InReach at GPS, after linking via BluTooth, is there any additional step? I'd like to put it in airplane mode and use the offline map with just Bluetooth. Haven't...

    Radio mounting

The body of my radio is mounted under my drivers seat using Velcro. I suppose a weakness would be in a scenarios where the vehicle flooded. Faceplate is on top of the dash. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

    InReach Explorer hahaha

I've got the InReach mounted with a RAM suction cup. I want to be able to use it to run Gaia or Off-Road Trail Guide (shameless plug for a buddy's company). Haven't figured that out yet. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

To lift or not to lift

Folks without lifts go with 275s (stock are 265). I run 285s without any body modifications and OME suspension and stock TRD Pro rims. Trend is moving towards 295s. One cat runs legit 35s, but he's done some major work and undoubtably has bump stops in the rear. Sent from my iPhone using...

    Hi-Lift Jack

I'll check it out on Instagram. Wish we could link videos. Anyway, here is a screenshot of what I mean for the tree saver. You slip the loop around the jack (you can also take the handle off) and keep outward pressure on the jack to keep it away from the vehicle. Let's the person hold it...

    Hi-Lift Jack

Fair point, but the driver needs to remain in control of the vehicle. If it were to come off the jack or worse roll over, the driver would need to steer it out of the roll. In this particular recovery, the intention was to drive off the jack. It's a fantastic recovery method. I've got a few...

    Hi-Lift Jack

Yes, exactly. The tire rolled off the bead with a nice pop! Needed to use the jack to reposition the tire. I've practiced the reverse before. It can be hard to unseat a bead to repair a tire in the field. You can take the wheel off, place the tire under the jack and start jacking the vehicle...

To lift or not to lift

You've got to lift the vehicle for the right reasons. I would never recommend doing a cheap body spacer lift for the sake of obtaining the 'overland' look. If you are going to lift, replace the suspension. Old Man Emu makes a great suspension for a fraction of the cost of fancier bypass...

    Water Systems

What are people doing for water on board their rigs? I have a 4Runner with a rear bumper that holds a couple of jerry cans. So far it's been okay. I had a fellow adventurer make me a little electric faucet using a submersible pump. It's genius, but has its flaws. I haven't rewired my rig to...

    Interior liner for dogs?

I love mine! I got rid of my tray and kept the seat back covers. Fantastic! Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

ARB Dual Compressor Mount Locations- Pics, Please!

I've got mine mounted under the hood (4Runner), but I've seen folks mount them in the rear. It's loud. My next mod will likely be to run an airline to my bumper so I can hook up my line without opening the hood. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

Dual Battery and Solar Panel System Questions

I have found this site to be helpful. http://www.diplodtrat.org Fed has been an instructor at Overland Expo East. I have also been looking at National Luna, but Blue Sea makes wonderful marine quality components too. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk

What is your Opinion? - BFG K02's or Duratracs

I hear the KM3's are being tested. I'm going to check those out when my Nitto Trail Grapplers need to be replaced. Sent from my iPhone using OB Talk
