I'm a 54 y/o industrial electrician. I've been wanting to get into Overlanding for the past few years and recently got the old 3rd gen 4 Runner into decent shape to do just that. I'm currently preparing myself and my rig to plan a trip, hopefully, in the late Spring or early Summer 2022. Looking to start with a short weekend trip. Test the rig, myself and document the experience. From there I plan to come home and analyze the info gathered, make changes and/or upgrades and do it again. That's all I know to do right now, so any advice or experienced help is very much appreciated and desired.
The Rig...
I rebuilt both the front end and the rear end. All new bearings, bushings, front control arms, ball joints, oil seals etc with OME shocks and Billy 5100's. I did the 199mm Tundra brake upgrade as well. It's really too much to list but I put all new brake lines, transmission cooler lines and a new radiator also. ARB Bull Bar front bumper with a 9500# Smittybuilt winch. That was just to get to this point. I have many plans but I just want to get out there and get rolling.
