I'm a 6th generation Oregonian living just across the mighty Willamette River from the end of the Oregon Trail. My family came west in 1862 and settled near Albany, Oregon before moving to the Prineville area in 1871. After losing everything they had when the banks failed in the 20's, they moved to Portland, OR where they started over.
I grew up in Portland and have always called the area home even though I have traveled a bit. As a young man I worked on crabbers, shrimpers, draggers and trollers in the commercial fishing industry out of the small port town of Ilwaco, WA. In 1981 I got off a Tuna boat in Eureka California and moved back to Portland to become a commercial photographer. That career took me into the 90's when I discovered auto racing and started managing a racing school where I met my lovely wife, Kellie.
By the year 2000 I finally figured out what I wanted to be when I grow up and broke into the fly fishing industry. Ten years later I own and operate Royal Treatment Fly Fishing in West Linn, OR.
As I transition into the next phase of my life I find myself drawn to discover more about my family, the great state of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest and myself. To that end, I have picked up my cameras, fly rods and camping gear as I Navigate the Northwest.
