Mountain Hawk

Dr. Seth Collings Hawkins is an anthropologist, writer, and physician. He is board certified in both emergency medicine and EMS. He is medical advisor for REI, the NC Outward Bound School, and the Student Conservation Association. He serves as Wilderness Medicine Magazine’s executive editor, Vertical Aid: Essential Wilderness Medicine for Climbers, Trekkers, and Mountaineers’s co-author, the Wilderness EMS textbook’s editor, and is the founder of multiple wilderness medicine organizations, as well as the medical director for multiple wilderness EMS teams. He is the first physician designated a Master Fellow by both the Academy of Wilderness Medicine and the Adventurers & Explorers Guild. Academically, he works as an associate professor of emergency medicine at Wake Forest University. In the overlanding community, he is pioneering the concept of a Toyota "SARcoma", a search and rescue-equipped Toyota Tacoma.
