Just finished up 21 years in the US Army. Currently a newb with this stuff. Hoping to get integrated into a group to take regular trips (especially in summer months when I'm off work). I'm building a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for this purpose. It has the V8, which I needed for the tow capacity for my other project, a 1966 Jeep CJ6. I'm adding sliders and a rear tire carrier in the near term so I can carry a full sized spare externally and feel confident that I'm not going to do too damage while I explore. Long term, I'll add a winch up front, and probably a better roof rack, and then hopefully it will work for a few years! A 392 Wrangler would've been pretty cool, but I'm not funded properly for such a vehicle!
