In 1990 I was shot in the face by a man who was robbing a house 450 ft away. On that Sunday afternoon on August 12th at 5:45pm my life changed forever. I was having car trouble in my old ‘74 VW Beetle so I decided to go to a friends house that lived close by. I pulled into his driveway and reached up and turned the key off. As I was sitting back in the seat an explosion went off, my head flew back against the seat and I went deaf. My first thought was that the gas tank in the front exploded due to the car trouble I was having. Needless to say, I was deathly wrong. A man, sitting on the back porch perpendicular to my car 450 ft away had shot me with a 30/06 high powered rifle. For no reason at all, the innocent victim I became. Air Care, Emergency surgery to piece my jaw together, 3 days in the Intensive Care Unit and 23 surgeries later. I began to piece my life back together at the ripe age of 16.
Now, 29 years later. Happily married to my first love I met in 1994, 4 children and 4 grandkids. I have a passion for Overlanding, a love for the outdoors and Camping. I’ve been in the aftermarket automotive industry since 1995 and always been into Customizing, Restyling and Outfitting every vehicle I have owned. Mainly because I’m a Gear Junkie! I LOVE gear, gadgets, tools and bags! Ask my wife, trust me, she will tell you I have an obsession with Gear! OH, almost forget, FLASHLIGHTS! Can’t have enough of those either!
We have been building our rig, a 2000 Nissan Xterra XE for 3 years now. Mainly cosmetics, electronics and wiring..well, and a few repairs needed like a new manifold, new exhaust, front brakes and rotors because the right front exploded one day while trying to stop but that’s a whole other story!
