Hi! I'm Raj or RJ...you pick. In August of 2020 I had, had enough of quarantines and lockdowns. I was struggling at home too and being a husband and dad of 5 girls, I couldn't be the guy to fall apart. I was wound up too tight. I love fly fishing but only had actually gone out a few times and always at the prompting of friends. Well that August if I didn't get out of my house I was going crack. I hopped in my truck with duffle bag full of clothes and nothing else and just started driving. I drove from Central Texas to Colorado Springs. I wasn't even sure why. Well I decided to stop at an Angler's Shop and bought a full fly fishing gear outfit and started talking to locals and began fishing every river I could for two weeks. As I did I stopped at Wal-Mart to buy some camping essentials because I was told I could just camp near the rivers for a small fee. Well as I went and fished and camped I kept seeing these really amazing setups of RTTs on decked out trucks, vans and jeeps. I was intrigued. It just so happened that I came across Mike from Last Line of Defense talking about Overlanding. I was again intrigued by this concept and then came across three very important YouTube Channels: Overland Bound, Lifestyle Overland and Trailrecon. Man I was hooked. So needless to say I am just getting started. I have 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 2WD and as I stated I am a dad of 5 girls a husband and I am the sole income so I have to make do with what I can. I am taking the approach of being able to get to the rivers I want to get to fly fish and camp and have my vehicle be my home away from home. My next purchase will be a used Lexus GX470 and will do a build on that. I will also mod my wife's Ford Expedition EL Limited to be our family overland rig and potentially purchase a trailer to pull behind that. My dream is to invest in a RAM Power Wagon and do a bunch of stuff to that. I am eager to learn from the community and be a part of it all! I love being outdoors and am excited to meet other fellow overlanders.
