    LED Suggestions

Probably late to this thread, but I have 8" LEDs on the sides and rear of my rig, with PIA old schools for driving.  I like the look and ease of the LEDs but I find the light falloff to be too shallow.  Meaning, the light does not project as far as a lensed light.  They are definitely bright at...

    Hello Overlanders from FirewallPhotography

I tried this once before - I was asked about the interior setup with the Delorme inReach and iPad.  So, here's a shot I took this weekend of the driver's cockpit with the display.  The monitors are in a custom install and the iPad uses a RAM Mount.  Though they do not have a holder for the...

    Question for Overland Bound(ers)

Here's a shot of the H-1 driver (cockpit).  I'm still a guy. Ram Mounts do not make a mount specific for the inReach so I'm going to give it a little time before purchasing something.  Clipping it on the iPad works for now while street driving.  Off road, I just put it in a cup holder.

    Question for Overland Bound(ers)

If you come by Vegas, send me an email and I can recommend/show you some great spots to camp and enjoy the non-neon parts of the valley.

    Question for Overland Bound(ers)

I like it allot.  The offering of street, satellite and topo maps is great for street, trying to get into a spot and of course climbing those hills.  I'm on the road for work - I'll send a couple shots next week.

    Hello Overlanders from FirewallPhotography

Thanks for the comment.  I have found those tree things to be tricky.  Out here overlanding dangers include sugar sand, arroyo erosion, the pesky tamarisk bush and lack of water.  I was up between the Vegas Range and the Sheep range and found fish fossils above 6000 ft.  And my last overnight...

    Member Rides

Killing some time I went through the past entries diggin' the rigs.  I liked a bunch of them.  I do have a question: After you wash your rig, which is necessary for vehicle maintenance, do you ever feel bad that others may think you're a poser?

    Hello Overlanders from FirewallPhotography

Sure - thanks for the interest - let me know. It is basically a stock American General '96 with the 6.5 Turbo and some bolt-ons. Exterior - semi-custom roof rack, ladder, CB Antenna, 2-72" tool boxes, spare tire mount (stocked with shovel, 60" jack, etc.) , 4-5gal gas cans and mounts, 4 more...

    Deflating for comfortable ride

Thanks, 20psi, using my internal gauge is as low as I have gone and it works real well for improved ride.  I've never had a traction problem to date. (knock on wood). Thanks for the reply.

    Question for Overland Bound(ers)

Because of this and another post, I went out an bought an InReach.  Too often I'm out of cellular range which also impact scrolling maps on the iPad.  The InReach syncs to the iPad and I now use its maps. Equipment wise I'm pretty well stocked, though I use a checklist each time cuz' I always...
