Yessir...nostrils in front allow more airflow directly to the condenser/radiator. This generation of GM trucks suffered from pretty small grill openings, and when I supercharged it I amplified the problems of an already lackluster cooling design. So the nostrils put more air onto the radiator...
2000 Yukon XL 2500 SLE 4x4, Procharger D1SC with FMIC, custom bumper, 3" lift all around, tri-fold bed platform with storage underneath, tri-fold 6" full mattress, 7.3 gal pressurized water tank, 2x5gal Jerry cans, 11lb propane, storage...LOTS custom, very self contained, VERY powerful....very...
It's kinda bittersweet to post this...
I found this forum some months ago and while I haven't been super active I've found a LOT of inspiration here, particularly in the full-sized rigs section! I love the "no judgment" culture, and the embracing of adventure, no matter what you're rolling in...
WOW, awesome reference here, thank you. I'm looking actively at studying for & taking the ham/tech test. With my overland build nearly at "rev 1.0" status and a long voyage coming up, I'm feeling some urgency about getting the right comms in place.
Seems like a good GMRS is going to be a given...
Thanks! Great input and much appreciated. I'll check out the videos. I've actually settled more on a transmission oil cooler, like you said. The PC radiator was interesting, but I've never handled one and in this case I'm more familiar with the automotive side. I'm not able to determine the pipe...
Yessir, I have looked into those. Price and depth of installation scared me off. In part, I'm looking to broaden the use of the tools I already own (like a tankless water heater). I like multitasking tools.
Forced hot water/baseboard heating is certainly a thing too...lots of houses are heated...
Thanks! Here's the blow-by-blow that I envision:
1. The thermostat (inside the vehicle) detects ambient temp below desired setting, flicks the "on" switch to the system, activating the 12V pump and 12V PC fan(s)
a. I would probably use a relay so the thermostat doesn't have to push a...
I have an indoor heater concept and would love you smart people to pick it apart. Vehicle is a 2000 Yukon XL 2500, which has a nice built-in bedroom. High elevation backwoods camping, so I expect cold nights & mornings, and a grumpy wife unless I can keep it warm inside! No money spent yet...
Sorry for the delay. Pics coming, as there's been quite a lot of work done in the last few months and I'm excited to update.
In truth, Procharger was the wrong choice here. Great power in mid to high range, but I need more down low. Roots or twin screw would have been better. She's fun to...
I'm pretty new here, but feel like I've found the tribe I didn't know I was looking for. Before I found you all I was thinking my rig was too big to be a real off-road/overland platform. You guys have set me straight, and I'm more in love with this girl than ever before. So thank you!
As you...
Happy New Year! Very glad to have found this place. I'm an avid RVer with dreams of simpler, lighter and faster excursions. 2000 Yukon XL 2500, 6L, 4wd, Procharged and a 3" lift. Mostly simple, but I think it's a good platform. Can't wait to see where the trail leads...
