Retired, prior service US Army, Airborne Infantry in both 1/508 Fort Kobe Panama and the 1/504 Fort Bragg, MEDIVAC Fort Bragg, K16 S Korea, finally 1st SOCOM.
Contracted in Afghanistan, team Medic of METT1, 6 man teams. I was severely wounded, my spine was crushed and I now have 4 hernias c7, to, and l3 and 4. Ahhhg
My best from my team was killed, 6 101sr STB soldiers were killed along with 9 ANA 201st CSB Command and Staff.
Took me years to fully recover physically.
My right lower leg mid shaft, I had a bilateral compound fracture. It was held together by what was left of the calf muscle. Believe it or not a Air Force vascular sergion Volunteered for that rotation, had entered my amputation and stopped them and said he could save it.
I still struggle when pushed to hard and I can not escape the situation. Meaning corrupt Mexican cops, drunks and plain buttons people. I was diagnosed severee PTSD, severe Depression and moderate TBI
I finally found my peace back on the reversation with my daughter visiting friends and familys, from the reservation in Robbinsville NC.
It was there sitting there on the front porch, drinking my hot of JOE. I was watching and listening to the pre-dawn NC drizzle while watching the slow moving mist that covered Smokey Mountains.
It felt as my ancestors, and the mountains, had taken on my burden freeing me of anger, frustration and more importantly this guilt that hung around my neck.
I have found camping has become my best therapy in life.
