We got several good trips out of the trailer but living in Waco, TX there are not many places close enough to really use it (that my 2 teenage daughters would enjoy). We'd drive 4–6hrs to camp for a weekend so we figured we'd like to get a trailer that had easier set up for the family.
I...
I didn't lift the trailer off the ground to level. Both times I used them (so far)was lucky enough to find level ground so the jacks are used to make it completely level. I don't think these are as stable as the ones welded/mounted to the trailer. I may eventually go that route, but I went with...
The jacks work great. I looked at different types as well and decided to go with these because of the price since I'm on a pretty tight budget. I do plan on getting a couple more for the front even though the tongue jack does a pretty good job of stabilizing when its not hooked up. These are...
Thank you! It's been a fun project that's way more practical than we expected. It's so much easier to keep organized and we actually keep everything we need in it so theres no more loading and unloading when we take a trip. It really makes us want to get out more :)
The other weekend we had a successful trip out to Padre Island (PINS). It's hit or miss with the winds at Padre but we were lucky it was not bad at all! We had a great trip and already planning to head back in a few weeks. Getting another trip in on the trailer is great to figure out what works...
I was able to get a great deal on a ARQ4WD A180* awning but added poles because I did not really trust the support. I found that this awning is probably best mounted to the side of a Prinsu style rack where there is a full frame to support it. I have 3 heavy duty L brackets (lumber mounts) and...
I am waiting to get it titled and weighed but the vet box was around 700 lb before I gutted it. I removed 100+ lbs of drawers and accessories I had no use for. Overall it's still pretty heavy for its size but under 1,200 lbs. I won't know for sure until it is weighed.
I thought I would share my overland trailer build. I know it's working backwards posting pics of it now vs. build pics, but I didn't think much of making a build post until I started getting questions about it. So here is our Tag-A-Long (home built) trailer as it is now.
And this is what it...
Thanks! Yes, the tongue box has a 12V power supply with a 110 converter. It helps power the Engel Fridge/freezer as well as both a 12v socket and USB chargers (where those 2 holes were in the pic) . There is also LED lighting on each lift hatch. If you google Porta-Vet you can see how these are...
Our homebuilt trailer from an old vet box that was normally fitted for a pick up truck. Still a work in progress :) Has a cargo area in the front section with 4 drawers in the rear with a tailgate. 12V power source built in tongue box with interior and exterior spot lights. Will replace the pull...
