Recently retired after 42 years as an engineer in the live performing arts business.
Stayed in CA after discharge from the Navy in 1976.
Have always enjoyed the outdoors and now have the time to enjoy it more.
I started off roading in the late 1970s in my 1972 Bronco. Wish I still had it.
In 2000 I bought my first Wrangler TJ. I built it mostly at a daily driver but it was also a capable crawler.
Around 2008, I became involved in off road racing and was a co-driver until a couple of years ago when old injuries and a pretty good crash required be to give up my seat. I'm still involved in the shop and pits. However, I really miss being in the car.
In 2015, I bought a 2013 Wrangler Sport JKU. Since then I have been building it for off grid camping. I've installed a modest lift, re-geared to 4;88 for the 35" tires and extra weight of after market bumpers, winch and RTT. I've also upgraded the drive train, added a cold air intake and ARB compressor and air lockers front and rear. Hence the name Bad Sport.
I had installed a Ham radio while I was still racing for remote pit support and chase if we needed the Jeep. This is still onboard and I'm working to get my license. I also have a CB and GMRS radios.
I'm still working on camp gear but am pretty happy with where I'm at this point. I'm just adding and replacing. Never ends. Just Empty Every Pocket says it all.
