Very well done. I'm jealous, I am a lifelong power wagon lover. Great drivetrain combo and looks like you've got some skills in fab work. I wish I could build my 58 power wagon, but I already have a 07 power wagon and a jeep Rubicon that take all my money and time.

Welcome from Westcliffe. In case you or any other Colorado members aren't aware, there is a recovery group called Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery. If you get in trouble, we are on FB, and we are dispatched by many local law enforcement and emergency management agencies. All volunteer, no...
No you didn't, I just fat fingered the wrong button. Lippincott road at the bottom is just as bad for washboards, just not as long. I had to rescue a brand new Toyota that melted the battery after some wires came loose on the washboards. And I agree, the upper part is not good for someone who...
Speed does not work on racetrack road. Not my truck, but he left parts on the road for 20 miles. I aired down to 15 and went slow and enjoyed the scenery and the fact that my truck was still working at the end. There are lots of roads in DV where speed works, this is not one of them. Too many...
I think you are forgiven for not having an actual PW... Are you still running the original flathead? Regardless, that truck is awesome.

I built this out of square steel and angle iron as I have no bender. My aluminum rack broke in half at Death Valley from the washboard roads.

Yes. That is a Crux off-road bridging ladder. Not sure if they are still made, the website has not been updated for a while. www.cruxoffroad.com

I did all the trails you are planning in a full-size. Mine is 19ft long and still made trails that said short wheelbase recommended. Suspension flex and or lockers is the key. The picture is Mengel pass.

Mengel Pass in one day is doable, but there is a lot to see, like the Geologists cabin, Barker Ranch etc. And the actual pass is quite difficult in a stock vehicle. I have done it both directions in my power wagon, West to east is the easiest direction. East to West solo required front and...
Either will be mildly challenging with a trailer. As long as the trailer has as much ground clearance as the truck, and you go slow, it should be fine. Hermit has less switchbacks, and there are some good spots below Hermit Falls. I would recommend airing down truck and trailer to smooth out the...
Hermit Pass has some great spots lower down, also the road to Rainbow lake has a bunch. They are both really rocky, but easy. We have snow forecast for this weekend, but it won't be much. Be sure to check out Westcliffe, it is a cool town.

We have no snow in Custer county. You can get out on some nice trails in the Sangre de Christo mountains. There is plenty of dispersed camping up there. The roads are mostly dry, but some trails like Hermit Pass have sheets of ice that would be hard to get by. Just depends on how challenging you...
