    04 Land Rover Discovery NC

Do you still have a front and rear sway bars connected? You could probably remove the rears and not notice a difference, but you’ll definitely notice a difference in center of gravity changes with the front sway bar disconnected.

Old and tired suspension would definitely cause clearance issues if you go up to a 32 inch tire.

What do you use to store all your gear?

For Sale - search for "Pelican" I usually get a lot of Pelican kayak products too. I'm also in San Francisco, so there's a good chance of finding something out here.

US West HELP NEEDED: Trail Repair & Clean Up Cow Mountain OHV Ukiah, CA

A few years ago myself and a few other NCLR Club members did some painting and maintenance at the staging area. Some of the stories we heard from the Ranger were just appalling. People like to get get drunk, tie a chain around the posts of the shade structures, and pull them down with their...

Options when an electric winch is not possible

For your winch drum, keep a minimum of 5 wraps of steel cable on it. If you have synthetic rope, a minimum of one complete layer of rope should remain on the drum. The Hi-Lift is great as it is not a single use tool compared to a Come-Along, and generally rated to higher WLL. For Hi-Lift...

That’s a good price. Wish the bumper had a couple recovery tabs for mounting shackles though. How would you do a self recovery with a winch?

OB Approved Warn XD9000i Winch Solenoid Replacement

When I took mine apart, the wires were bent in a way that they almost dropped right into the same position. If you really have to bend them another way, it's probably on the wrong terminal.

OB Approved Warn XD9000i Winch Solenoid Replacement

Good luck! It’s a pretty straightforward job, just make sure to take pics and label all of the wires before you take everything apart.

    Rusted Control Arm Help!!

Try hitting them with a hammer, or a BFH, to break free any corrosion that might be in the threads. A little heat on the heim should be ok to get it to expand a touch. Try the hammer method when it's hot and then see about getting them to turn.

Options when an electric winch is not possible

I'll be teaching recovery classes at Off The Grid this weekend, with a focus on the electric winch, Hi-Lift, and Maxtrax. Do not buy an ATV winch for your vehicle, unless your vehicle is an ATV!!! If money is the biggest concern/hurdle, then wait a little longer and save more money. It doesn't...

OB Approved Introduction to Recovery equipment

My advice is to never skimp on cost when it comes to recovery equipment. A lot people think that a winch is something they may only use once a year and therefore shouldn't drop good money on one. The problem you can run into with a cheapo product is when you really need it to work, it may not...
